Here are few words about our dear friend Marvin:

Angie: Sitting in egg-chairs, in the live room of Platinum Studios, listening to the final mixes of Marvin is a moment that is etched in my mind forever. As we drenched our ears in the work that we’d done, I was as high as a kestrel. When we set out to make the album, I was 19 years old and everything that had happened so far with the band was beyond my expectations. We wrote with the ferocity of young people that didn’t doubt that they had something to share. It was an intoxicating time and the fact that it lives on to this day is just a gift. Thank you to everyone that has been a part of this album’s story, from the first formation of the band, to now, our wonderful behind-the-scenes champions along the way to our current team, and all of the listeners that continue to share the ways in which our little cluster of songs on a disc have become synonymous with snapshots of some significant times in their lives.

Angie x

Simon: At the end of the first long night of pre-production, in the fabled York Street Studio in Fitzroy, Michael Koppelman of Paisley Park fame, having listened to and arranged the songs that would become Marvin the Album said: "We have left the shore...". That moment of beginning, of departing is still incredibly vivid, but the voyage began years before, when Angie and I met across the Back Bar in the Punter's Club and became friends and allies.

We were not completely ready to record Marvin - listening to it now I can hear things I would love to add or change - but as a snapshot of who we were then it is perfect.

We released it and somehow, almost unbelievably, people liked it. You liked it! So this re-release is dedicated to you, who have let our little stories into your lives and made Marvin the man he is today - wide open eyed, serious, delirious.....

In gratitude, Simon.

ESKIMO JOE COVER SERIES - Into Temptation by Crowded House

Another cover has dropped from the Eskimo Joe lads in the leadup to their massive 2022 Black Fingernails Red Wine In The City tour which kicks off in 5 weeks.

A note below from Joel Quartermain from Eskimo Joe:

'How fortunate are we to have Crowded House soundtrack our lives? They’re like your favourite family member: warm, charismatic and loved by everyone.

It’s such a tough decision to choose a Crowdies tune to cover. So many iconic, sublime songs.

We ended up settling on ‘Into Temptation’ as possibly a less obvious choice compared to some of their more well known masterpieces. It’s definitely a favourite in the Eskies tour bus!

It’s one of many examples of Neil Finn’s gift for writing complex, sophisticated songs that sound absolutely effortless.

NB: To our NZ friends, we’re going to claim Crowded House as an Aussie band on the pure geographic/statistical argument that the band was formed in Melbourne and 2 of 3 founding members were Melbournites. Hope that’s ok :)

The track will be released on all platforms tomorrow! You can pre-save it via the link below: https://ditto.fm/eskimojoe-intotemptation

Can’t wait for our big national tour to kick off in 5 weeks, tickets available from https://www.frontiertouring.com/eskimojoe

Both the Black Fingernails Red Wine & Song Is A City albums will be performed in full along with some other gems.

Best wishes, Joel'

Eskimo Joe Best Of Interview Series - Foreign Land

'Foreign Land is always the biggest rock moment in our set and one that I will never get tired of playing.

We must have played the big riff section for two hours straight when we wrote it.

Always a good sign when you literally can’t stop playing it.'

ESKIMO JOE BEST OF COUNTDOWN - FROM THE SEA

The countdown to the Dec 10 release of Eskimo Joe's Best Of continues with the daily interview series, today the band discuss their track 'From The Sea':

'From The Sea was a significant moment for us in our songwriting and recording, this song came very late in the writing of our A Song Is City album and we almost gave the tune away to our friends band Adora.

The song is about the overwhelming feeling we all get when everything piles up on top of each other and it feels as if it’s going to consume you like a tidal wave from the sea.'
